Your progress

Main Quest (MQ) is a local-first habit and game-progression app. Your optional player name, onboarding answers, selected goals/habits, titles of custom quests you write, game stats, quest history, optional Insights self-log entries (sleep, screen time, water) and milestone unlock dates, and preferences are stored on your device. MQ has no account and no MQ server. On iPhone, MQ also saves a compact copy of your progress (name, answers, XP, streak, stats, quest history, custom quest titles, self-log entries, milestone unlock dates, language and reminder choices; no purchase or payment data) to your own iCloud key-value storage, so it can come back after a reinstall or on your other Apple devices signed in to the same Apple ID. That copy lives in your iCloud account under Apple's terms; MQ and its processors cannot read it, and you can remove it in iPhone Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Storage. If iCloud is off, progress stays only on the device, and uninstalling or resetting the app can erase it. The device operating system may also include app data in its own backup according to your settings.

Quest proof (optional): when you complete a quest you can add a short note and one photo, from the camera or from a picture you choose in your library. Notes and photos are stored only in MQ's private storage on your device. Photos are reduced in size when saved, are never uploaded, are not included in the iCloud copy of your progress and are not read by MQ or its processors. MQ asks for camera access only when you tap the camera button, and reads only the single picture you pick. You can delete a photo or note in the app at any time, and they are deleted when you reset the campaign or uninstall MQ. The device operating system may include app files in its own device backup according to your settings.

Subscriptions

Apple or Google processes payment using your store account. MQ does not receive your card, bank or tax information. RevenueCat validates purchases, renewals and restores and receives an anonymous app-user identifier, purchase/product information, entitlement status and the technical information required to deliver this service. RevenueCat's identifier can persist across use and may be connected to store purchase records. The app keeps the last verified entitlement expiration locally so offline access can continue until expiration.

Store and RevenueCat subscription records are separate from local game progress. Deleting MQ does not cancel a subscription or erase records the store must retain. Manage subscriptions through your Apple/Google account. Ask support@trymainquest.com for help with applicable data-access/deletion rights relating to MQ's processors.

Optional analytics and crash reports

Both settings are off by default. Privacy choices on the first screen and the Hero tab let you change them independently.

If you enable usage analytics, PostHog receives a random persistent installation identifier, event names, question/step identifiers (not answer values), campaign/quest identifiers, subscription-plan selection, aggregate XP/level/rank values and event timing. MQ does not send your name, free text, habit/blocker answers or notification token in these events. We use these events to understand app use and improve onboarding, reliability and retention. Remote experiment flags may tailor the paywall or onboarding on later visits. Session replay and advertising tracking are disabled.

If you enable crash reports, Sentry receives error types, stack frames and technical app/device diagnostics. MQ removes user, request, free-form extra data, breadcrumbs and exception messages from its outgoing JavaScript crash events. Native crash reporting may contain additional technical context. Crash data helps locate failures and fix them. Neither telemetry option is required to use MQ.

Turning a setting off stops future delivery by MQ; it does not automatically delete data already received. Processors necessarily receive network connection information, including your IP address. We do not use this information for advertising or sell personal data.

Reminders and sharing

Notifications are local scheduled reminders, enabled only with your permission. MQ does not operate a push-notification server. You can switch reminders off in MQ or your device settings.

Share cards are generated locally. When you choose a share destination, your device gives the selected image or fallback text to that service, under its own policy. Cards can contain your player name, class, game rank, boss victory or weekly progress. Review the image before sharing. MQ does not automatically publish or upload cards.

Legal purposes and providers

We use locally stored data to provide the app; subscription processing supports purchase access and contractual obligations; optional telemetry relies on your choice/consent where applicable. Providers include Apple/Google, RevenueCat, PostHog and Sentry, subject to their own policies and applicable processor agreements. We may disclose information where legally required, and only within the applicable law.

Retention and your choices

Local progress remains until you reset/remove it. Subscription records follow store/processor retention requirements and legal obligations. Analytics and crash data are kept for at most 90 days. You may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or complain to an appropriate authority. Contact support@trymainquest.com to exercise applicable rights. We may need information sufficient to locate anonymous processor records; do not send payment credentials.

Children and wellbeing

MQ is intended for people aged 13 or older and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13; contact us if you believe a child under 13 has supplied it. People under 18 are asked only for an age range, and the app shows adult-topic habit options (alcohol, smoking or vaping, pornography) only to people who say they are 18 or older. Parents or guardians can contact us about a minor's data. MQ does not collect HealthKit/Health Connect records and its game stats are not clinical measurements.

Security and changes

We limit data sent to providers and use their supported encrypted connections. No storage or transmission method guarantees absolute security. We may update this policy when data practices change; the effective date will identify the current version. Obtain new consent if a material change requires it.
